A well-established, premier manufacturer is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to join their electrical design engineering team and will spend 40% of the time on PLC programming and 20% of the time on electrical design. This role reports to the Electrical Design Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Partner with a Senior Engineer to learn product and processes
- Programmable logic controller programming using Allen Bradley PLC platforms
- Manage multiple engineering projects and partner with mechanical engineers to complete machine design concepts
- Responsible for control panel and electrical hardware design
- Once trained, manage 1-6 design projects at a time
- Make design changes to equipment designs
- Create bill of materials for design projects
- Make customized modifications to established designs
- Assist sales and customer service department with technical electrical expertise related to customer needs and quotations
- Communicate with customers on equipment needs and preferences
- Other duties directed by management
Candidates should enjoy working at a desk 90% of the time and being a contributor within a team-oriented environment. Qualified candidates will be detail oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work on multiple projects at a time. This position is required to be on site Monday-Friday!
REQUIREMENTS for the Controls Design Engineer:
- Minimum of an Associate's degree; a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred
- Depending on education, at least three years of experience performing similar functions at an OEM or machine integrator
- PLC programming
- Electrical design, including panels and panel layout
