Tifton-Tift County Public Library – Coastal Plain Regional Library System is a multi-county regional library system headquartered in Tifton, GA, committed to providing essential resources, innovative programs, and vital services that enrich lives, foster literacy, and strengthen communities. The Tifton Tift County Public Library is our largest and busiest branch where we build community and enrich lives every day. This opportunity is to join our library team as a Youth Services professional.

• Plan and implement literacy-based programs, including story times and school-age programming.
• Develop and implement innovative programs that encourage library use and enhance the library's image in the community.
• Execute signature and special programs (e.g., Summer Reading Program, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten).
• Provide excellent customer service with respect, courtesy, and tact to patrons of all ages and backgrounds.
• Instruct patrons, especially children and teens, in the use of library resources.
• Maintain current knowledge of organizational procedures, processes, policies, and operations.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and support library goals and objectives.
• Offer reader’s advisory recommendations focused on children and teens.
• Perform in-depth reference service as needed.
• Assist in representing the library at community events and in collecting library statistics.
• Commit to weekend and evening hours as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum

• Associate’s degree or some college
• 3 years experience working with or serving children
• Valid Georgia Driver’s license and clean/satisfactory 2-year motor vehicle record
• Satisfactory criminal background check

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree
• Some public library experience
• Supervisory experience
• Bilingual

Requires prolonged periods of standing and sitting; frequent bending, reaching, and walking; high manual dexterity and repetitive hand movement; frequent lifting and carrying of light objects (books) and occasional lifting of heavy items (containers of library materials or props); occasional pushing and pulling of chairs, tables, or partitions; ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds; ability to communicate under pressure;

project vocally to a group; distinguish color shades; occasional manipulation of puppets and A/V equipment; ability to work from a ladder.
