Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Education The School of Social Sciences, Education and Arts at ABAC invites applications for an Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Education. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027. The position is open until filled.

Candidates with a doctorate in Elementary Education, Science Education, Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field may be considered for appointment as Assistant Professor, a 10-month tenure-track faculty position. Candidates with a masters degree in one of these areas may be considered for appointment as Lecturer, a 10-month non-tenure-track faculty position. At minimum, applicants must hold a masters degree and have 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.

The successful candidate will join the Department of Education and Wellness and teach courses in elementary mathematics education, elementary science education, and/or other elementary education courses based on departmental needs. Courses may be offered in person, hybrid, or online. Faculty at ABAC are evaluated in teaching, student success, scholarship and professional growth, and professional service.

The ideal candidate will have a background or expertise in elementary mathematics and/or science education; although this expertise is preferred, applicants from all elementary education backgrounds will be considered. The ideal candidate will also have experience teaching at the elementary level; experience teaching at the college or university level; experience teaching in both in-person and online learning environments; and hold Doctorate in Elementary Education, Science Education, Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field.

The College serves approximately 4,000 students and offers bachelors and associate degrees as well as certificates. The Department of Education and Wellness offers the B.S. in Elementary Education, Elementary Education and Teacher Preparation pathways within the Core Curriculum A.S., and the Certificate in Instructional Support Personnel.
