The position involves working with water samples from the Little River Experimental Watershed, including assisting with bi-weekly sample collection and sample analysis. Sample collection involves driving to several sites and operating an automated sampler to retrieve a 9L sampling jar and returning it to the lab for processing. Samples will be analyzed for nutrients using flow injection analyzers and inductively coupled plasma with optical emission spectroscopy.

These analyses will require the preparation of standards and reagents.

High school diploma required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or

Competencies:

Experience in natural resources research or a chemistry laboratory setting are highly desirable.

• Collection and analysis of samples
• Cleaning lab spaces/equipment
• Complying with guidelines and standards provided by Supervisor
• Preparation of standards and reagents
• Other duties assigned by Supervisor

Percentage of time: 100%

Enduring weather elements, bending, standing, lifting. Driving as needed to perform job duties.
