Horticulture Temporary Associate
Position Summary:
Individual will assist with field, seed processing, laboratory, and greenhouse activities. Crucial field activities include data collection and harvesting along with other miscellaneous duties. Additional duties will involve helping with seed processing, shelling, data collection, and greenhouse work (plant cultivation and crossing) when needed. Laboratory activities include conducting polymerase chain reaction for marker‑assisted selection. Individual will work as a part of a team.
- Assist with field activities including data collection and harvesting.
- Help with seed processing, shelling, and other related tasks.
- Conduct laboratory work such as PCR for marker‑assisted selection.
- Support greenhouse tasks such as plant cultivation and crossing.
- Maintain accurate records and data.
- Some post‑secondary education in biology or plant science preferred.
- Knowledge of crops, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and good record‑keeping skills.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, and lift lightweight materials.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Ability to comply with background investigation policy.
