The vegetable entomology research laboratory conducts investigations into how pest insects affect vegetable productivity in Georgia and how to best control these pests. Current tasks include maintaining insect (e.g., whitefly and diamondback moth) colonies, collecting and processing samples, and entering data. Specific tasks include rapidly identifying and counting small insects under stereo microscope magnification, maintaining plant food for insect colonies, planting seeds/seedlings for colonies and/or research tests, scouting, and other duties related to entomological field research.
Limited-term appointment
: 1 year after the start date. Renewal or extension beyond the initial term is possible but not guaranteed and will depend on project needs, the availability of funding, and job performance.
