- Design and conduct research in field, greenhouse, and laboratory settings to support cotton breeding and genetics programs (50%).
- Evaluate cotton germplasm for agronomic performance, fiber quality, and genetic traits using modern phenotyping and analytical techniques (50%).
- Collect, manage, and analyze experimental data to support breeding decisions and genetic studies (50%).
- Support collaborative research and mentor team members, including assisting with experimental design and training students or staff in breeding and genetics methods (50%).
- Prepare and draft research reports and scientific manuscripts for publication in peer‑reviewed journals (50%).
- Summarize and communicate research findings clearly to stakeholders, including funding agencies and collaborators (50%).
- Present research results at scientific meetings, workshops, and outreach events to various audiences (50%).
- Coordinate research activities by organizing workflows and timelines with graduate students, technicians, and the Principal Investigator (30%).
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal team members and external collaborators to ensure project alignment and progress (30%).
- Oversee implementation of research plans by monitoring task completion, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring consistency in experimental procedures (30%).
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate researchers (10%).
- Education, interest and experience in agricultural engineering, plant sciences or a related discipline.
- Experience with agricultural machinery operation such as tractors, sprayers, planters, and operating a drone for imaging analysis is preferred.
- Ability to work with sprayers and other precision agriculture technologies.
- Ability to operate a drone and have knowledge in programming languages such as R or Python.
- Standing.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Enduring outside and/or greenhouse elements for extended periods of time.
- Travel to multiple locations as needed for job duties.
