As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will focus primarily on new installations and modifications of cable television and broadband services. You will drive a company van, visit customer homes, and represent Mediacom with professionalism. Your responsibilities include installation, service changes, outlet additions, disconnections, payment collection, and addressing special customer requests.

- Complete exterior and interior drop installations, including pre‑wired units
- Perform new connections, reconnects, non‑pay disconnects, add outlets, and install/remove converters
- Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of delivered picture following installation
- Work with connectors, fasteners, and wire; use hand tools
- Use customary CATV hand and power tools for job duties
- Complete required paperwork per system management
- Read signal levels with field strength meter, adjust levels, and install tap‑off devices
- Climb poles and use safe gear, ladders, or other structures as needed
- Lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs.; work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces
- Use and maintain a VOM or DMM for voltage checks
- Interpret drop system layouts from blueprints
- Inform customers of FCC rules and company policies
- Drive company vehicles; maintain vehicle upkeep and use bucket truck as required
- Generate company revenue through effective sales techniques and offer product information, campaigns, and promotions
- Perform additional duties such as cleanup, salvage of wrecked materials, and general assistance
- Adhere to applicable codes, requirements, guidelines, company procedures, and safe work practices to provide outstanding customer experience
- No experience required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- General mechanical and consumer device knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in high or tight spaces
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights
- Flexibility for evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime work
- Frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50–100 lbs.) and materials or heavy hand tools
