GENERAL DUTIES
SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of direct and indirect services to ensure provision of English language development services to students learning English. Work directly with students, school staff, building and district administrators to meet the educational goals of the district.

- Teach English language development according to state standards and district-adopted curricula
- Administer criterion referenced tests for the purpose of instructional decision making
- Design and implement educational program that meet the requirements of State and Federal law
- Administer assessments as required by the ELL department and State of Oregon
- Effectively design and implement instructional programs both directly and through Instructional Assistants and regular classroom teachers.
- Schedule, coordinate and monitor student programs
- Correct assignments and grade students
- Consult with staff and parents on student progress
- Maintain confidential files
- Work on basic computer software
- Maintain records as required by the district
- Schedule, coordinate and monitor student programs and complete work within established time lines
- Communicate with appropriate student age group requiring the exercise of positive behavior support
- Follows District standards including reporting concerns, abuse and infractions of student handbook policies
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:

- Demonstrated command of the English language (both oral and written) and any language of instruction
- Delivers English language development instruction according to state standards and district-approved curriculum
- Works with a variety of students, including English learners with disabilities
- Shelters instruction
- Uses Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates leadership abilities
- Understands and applies current English language development research to instructional practice
- Proactively communicates with parents who speak a variety of languages about student progress, school programs, and laws and research related to English language learner programs
- Performs the essential functions of the job
- Conducts conferences and occasional parent nights
- Works effectively and collaborates with the building administrator, ELD team and grade level teachers
- Educates staff regarding ELL program enrollment, assessment and exit criteria and instructional progress
- Conducts assessments and analyze data
- Maintains a confidential, non-judgmental manner towards the students, staff, and program
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with supervisor, staff, and general public
- Uses correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization, word usage, and sentence construction

- Demonstrates effective classroom management techniques
- Understands and complies with Oregon Teacher's Standards of Competent and Ethical Performance
- Demonstrates mental acuity, processing skills, and long and short-term memory to track and meet deadlines and responsibilities
Preferred:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Trained in Systematic ELD preferred
- Knowledge of SIOP and Constructing Meaning preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Oregon Teaching License
- Current ESOL endorsement
