Substation Project Manager

Responsibilities

ECI has an immediate opening for a Project Manager who will clarify conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization. Scope, budget, schedule, plan, execute, monitor, and report substation projects and proposals. Oversee project teams of engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff. Execute ECI's quality control procedure to ensure excellent project execution.

Coordinate with subject‑matter experts—Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), Transmission Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right‑of‑Way, and Project Management/Controls—to ensure successful project execution. Act as primary interface with clients and other project stakeholders. Provide technical mentorship and training of project team design staff.

Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years of project engineering experience (or an acceptable combination of education and experience); 2+ years of demonstrated project management and leadership experience; excellent verbal and written communication, strong organization and planning skills, commitment to quality and accuracy, and ability to meet fast‑paced project schedules. A PE license and PMP certification are preferred.

Must have advanced knowledge of power engineering principles, expert knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and design tools, and ability to direct and oversee multiple technical disciplines during substation projects. Client‑mandated drug and background checking may be required. Occasional travel/driving; subject to ECI’s auto insurance carrier requirements. No visa sponsorship required.
