Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and analyze account relationships to ensure accuracy of financial data across general ledger funds and chart of accounts.
  • Identify and research errors, recommend corrections, and prepare journal entries as appropriate.
  • Review employee‑submitted expense reimbursements and prepare monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare journal entries for IT inventory and PTO accrual.
  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to ensure accounting records and financial reports comply with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external financial reports including monthly financial statements, expenditure reports, cash transaction reports, and other required reports.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Provide backup for Payroll and Benefits Specialist, reviewing employee timesheets and preparing payroll reporting for external agencies (BLS, SAIF, etc.).
  • Reconcile all payroll reporting to the general ledger and make necessary corrections.
  • Prepare bi‑monthly 401(k) contribution reconciliation and upload.
  • Champion the finance intranet page and maintain and reconcile ledgers, reports, and accounting records.
  • Adhere to established internal control procedures for all finance functions and support compliance and accreditation efforts.
  • Assist the finance team in preparing special reports or projects requiring research, interpretation, or auditing of financial and statistical data.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual audit.
  • Meet deadlines for completion of daily, weekly, and month‑end reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is strongly preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position is required.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or non‑profit settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, financial, and accounting concepts and principles is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, data sorting, and formatting is required.
  • Previous experience with payroll and benefits is preferred but is trainable.
  • Experience with Sage 100 and Sage Fixed Assets is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, able to function independently and as part of a team, and able to take initiative and follow through on requests until completion.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions
  • Regularly sit while working on the computer; use hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; repeat the same movements when entering data; ability to differentiate between colors, shades, and brightness; read from a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently stand and walk around the office to gather supplies, file, use office equipment, or collaborate with employees.
  • Occasionally stand, stoop, and lift or move objects weighing approximately 20–25 pounds up to 40–50 pounds.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
