We are hiring an additional Public Affairs Officer (PAO) to support the continued growth of our Public Affairs team. The PAO coordinates and participates in activities that continually enhance the connectivity between the District and the communities served by developing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Areas of responsibility for the Public Affairs Officer include:- RELATIONSHIPS
:
Identifies, develops and maintains regular and constructive relations with key local government staff, local businesses, and community leaders. Promotes Fire District operations, training, funding, capital construction projects, and performance standards to stakeholders. - DISTRICT REPRESENTATION
:
Represents the District on various boards, committees, and community groups to promote the District’s mission, values, and programs. Identifies and coordinates proactive outreach to advance District initiatives and programs and promote the District’s reputation. - PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER
:
Serves as an on-call public information officer on a scheduled rotation, including on-site response to emergency incidents. Disseminates emergency incident details and public safety information in writing and verbally, within a wide range of time and planning constraints. - COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION
:
Consults with internal departments on strategies for effective engagement with key external stakeholders to promote District initiatives. Performs tasks that support communication and marketing for community risk reduction campaigns. - ANALYSIS
:
Performs regular analysis of local government and civic activities. Offers strategies for advancing projects and policies with local government partners; works individually or with other staff to execute strategy as directed by the Public Affairs Manager.
Associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, communications, business administration, or related field preferred.
ExperienceFour (4) years of relevant experience, including public affairs, marketing, or community relations.

Selection ProcessThe selection process will comprise of a minimum qualification review, one-way recorded video interview, and an on-site panel interview and skills demonstration.

The monthly salary range for this position is $7,361 - $9,956 per month. The starting pay assignment is based on a candidate's bona fide factor analysis in accordance with the District's pay equity system and the Oregon Equal Pay Act.
Work Location & Working ConditionsTualatin Valley Fire and Rescue strives to provide exceptional internal and external customer service. To ensure a collaborative and supportive environment with both the public we serve and our co-workers, employees perform their work on-site at the Command and Business Operations Center, located in Tigard, OR. This position requires regular travel to offices both within and outside of TVF&R. Work hours may include evenings and weekends, along with participation in an on-call rotation.
