Medical Billing Specialist

Jackson House is seeking an outstanding Medical Billing Specialist to join our mental and behavioral healthcare billing team. This is a full-time, on-site position working out of our head office in Portland, OR.

Applicants must have at least one year of experience in Medicare/ Medicaid billing, preferably in a mental/behavioral healthcare setting.

• The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for performing day-to-day medical billing functions for assigned facilities and payers.
• This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely claim submission, monitoring accounts receivable, following up on outstanding claims and payments, resolving claim denials and payment discrepancies, and communicating with insurance companies and private payers to facilitate reimbursement for medically necessary services.
• The Medical Billing Specialist works closely with internal departments, insurance companies, and other payers to research and resolve billing issues, maintain accurate patient and billing records, and support an efficient revenue cycle.
• The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple billing tasks and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of experience of healthcare billing, required.
• Experience in mental and behavioral healthcare billing preferred.
• Knowledge of medical billing processes, insurance claims, accounts receivable, denials, and payment posting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and healthcare billing systems.
• Communication skills to converse clearly over the telephone and in person.
• Organization and time management to manage a variety of tasks effectively.
• License driver with a well working automobile for reliability getting to and from work in all types of weather.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
