Job Details

Location: Tigard

Hours: Mon‑Thurs 6am‑4:30pm

Pay: $25‑$30+/hr.

Position Overview

The Receiving Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that all incoming materials meet the standards. This is a hands‑on, detail‑driven position for someone who takes pride in getting it right the first time. You’ll serve as a key checkpoint between procurement and production, verifying that what we receive aligns with what we ordered, what was certified, and what will ultimately be built.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect incoming materials, components, and fabricated items for compliance with purchase orders, drawings, and specifications
  • Verify quantities, dimensions, heat numbers, and material certifications (MTRs)
  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately in company systems
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, and Quality teams on discrepancies or non‑conforming materials
  • Initiate and track non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and support resolution efforts
  • Maintain organized records of inspections, certifications, and supporting documentation
  • Support audits and quality reviews as needed
  • Travel periodically to vendor facilities or job sites to perform inspections or verification activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the Quality program
Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and material certifications
  • Working knowledge of structural steel, fabrication processes, or construction materials preferred
  • Familiarity with measuring tools (tape, calipers, gauges, etc.)
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open items
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and documentation tools
  • Willingness to travel as needed
Work Environment
  • Primarily performed in a steel fabrication shop and yard environment
  • Exposure to noise, weather, and active equipment
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting, and hands‑on inspection activities
  • Occasional travel to external locations (vendors, job sites)
Schedule
  • Flexibility required to support production schedules and incoming deliveries
