Location:
Tigard, OR (9806 SW Tigard St, Tigard, OR 97223); other locations:
Portland, Gresham.
Schedule:
Tuesday & Saturday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
Starting Pay Rate: $27.52 per hour.
Position SummaryThe Furniture Bank Coordinator supports Community Warehouse with daily program operations, facilitating intake and distribution of furniture and household items and maintaining positive communication with staff and constituents.
Responsibilities- Provide welcoming, respectful and compassionate service to diverse clientele with a trauma‑informed approach.
- Answer client and case‑manager questions while adhering to policies and procedures.
- Support flow of client appointments and daily schedule.
- Practice safe lifting techniques and prioritize safety practices.
- Represent Community Warehouse professionally to donors, volunteers and community members.
- Participate in regular meetings, check‑ins, performance evaluations, department and all‑staff meetings, and trainings.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- Answer incoming calls and respond to emails regarding appointments, donation inquiries and other furniture bank operations.
- Assist in appointment scheduling, send reminders, review upcoming appointments for accuracy.
- Check‑in clients and caseworkers: complete intake paperwork and data‑entry.
- Check‑out appointments, including a walkthrough with clients and case managers, ensure accurate inventory, process payments and provide invoices/receipts.
- Greet donors, screen donations, assist donors with unloading, write donation receipts, and document accurate inventories.
- Ask in‑kind donation drop‑offs for financial contributions.
- Determine if donated items meet criteria; sort and stock items; perform light cleaning, assembly and minor repairs.
- Engage and support volunteers and volunteer programs.
- Support appointments: virtual or direct service, client selection of items, pack and mark fragile items.
- Gather selected items per appointment and move to staging area for client transport or pickup.
- Lead or support case‑manager orientations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of indoor/outdoor spaces.
- Unload trucks of donated goods.
- Assist mattress recycling program: record mattresses, load/unload pods, support drivers.
- Assist Pickup Drivers: operate company‑owned 20‑foot truck, pick up or deliver furniture, accept payment, record transactions, ensure safety guidelines.
- Assist Enterprise team with inventory transfer, support Estate Store operations, answer customer questions, assist checkout, package purchased items.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience with de‑escalation tactics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and switch between duties efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable with learning technology (Excel, Square, online scheduler, data reporting system).
- Driver’s license and clean driving record (preferred); willingness to drive 20‑foot truck (preferred).
- Must pass criminal background check.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people in an equity‑focused environment.

- Stand, stoop, reach overhead, climb ladders, move furniture, heavy lifting.
- Regularly lift 50 lb independently; lift over 50 lb with partner or tools.
- On feet for 6‑9 h per day; walk, carry, lift frequently.
- Key typing, answer phones.
- Work in non‑temperature‑controlled warehouse.
- Sit or stand extended periods.
- Drive 10‑14 or 20‑foot box truck (training available).
