Compensation
$16.50 to $19.00 per hour. Commission up to 8% on transactions, averaging an additional $4.87 per hour on top of the hourly rate.
Position SummaryAn entry‑level sales position in pawn store locations nationwide. The Sales Associate partners with the entire staff to ensure customer service on both lending and retail sides of the business. Greets, engages, and interacts with customers in a positive, professional manner to process sales and loan activity and transactions. Thrives on engaging with customers, including assisting with inquiries and problem resolution.
Associates handle inventory placement and work with jewelry, general merchandise, and all financial solutions offered to the customer base.
Reports to Store Manager.
General Duties and Responsibilities- Greet and interact with all customers to develop rapport and better help provide and recommend appropriate financial solutions.
- Perform non‑management open/close procedures.
- Keep sales floor clean, stocked and maintain display of merchandise.
- Perform sales and loan transactions in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices and regulatory requirements.
- Handle all cash and negotiable items in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices and regulatory requirements.
- Independently receive, evaluate, lift, carry, move, and secure customer merchandise as part of pawn, buy, and retail transactions.
- Answer incoming calls per company standards.
- Effectively communicate to customers the legal aspects of the pawn and buy transactions.
- Communicate effectively with fellow coworkers and managers, displaying respect and using effective communication tools.
- Partner with all employees to create a positive and memorable customer experience and work environment.
- Successfully complete assigned training.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 18 years of age (WA only: minimum 21 years of age).
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Strong desire to work, serve customers, and work with people, team oriented.
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations proficiently.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of jewelry and general merchandise preferred.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills including verbal, non‑verbal and active listening.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Updated 2026.
- Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.
- Should be able to work in multiple locations, as needed.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays; based on business needs.
- Computer literate and able to operate common office machines.
- Ability to work with firearms as needed.
Primarily indoors. Employees may be asked to assist a customer on the exterior of the building (within our parking lots) or to retrieve products stored in exterior storage buildings or other areas.
Work Postures/Requirements- Standing/Walking – Frequently throughout work shifts while assisting customers at the sales counter or on the sales floor, and while performing inventory, maintenance, and operational tasks in customer and non‑customer areas.
- Sitting – Occasionally during the work shift to complete sales documentation, reporting and other administrative tasks.
- Bending – Frequently bending in various directions using proper bending and body mechanics while receiving, storing, or selling merchandise.
- Reaching – Frequently to retrieve merchandise from shelves, storage areas, carts, and customers.
- Walking – Frequently within the store as customers are assisted and stock retrieved.
- Climbing – Frequently to access elevated storage locations, in accordance with safety procedures.
- Kneeling – Occasionally.
Position requires the ability to safely lift, carry, and move customer merchandise during the normal course of business.
- Lifting/Carrying – Able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 70 pounds, during customer transactions, inventory handling, and store operations.
- Tool Usage – No tools are used regularly. Jeweler’s tools and other power tools are used occasionally.
- Chemical Usage – Occasional.
- Occasional: 20% of time or less
- Frequent: 20–75% of the time
- Continuous: 75% of the time or more
