Location: Kirkland Lake, ON (On-site, relocation required for project duration)
Compensation: $60-70/hour (T4/INC), accommodation provided
Language: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Duration: 12-month contract with a possibility for extension

Our client, a leading organization within the natural resources sector, is seeking a Project Cost Accountant to join their on‑site project team. This role plays a critical part in supporting large‑scale capital projects, offering hands‑on exposure to cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting tied directly to operational performance.
You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and finance partners to ensure accurate cost control and reporting across all project phases. This is a highly collaborative environment where your insights will directly influence project decisions and financial outcomes.

Your Responsibilities- You’ll monitor and track project costs against budgets, forecasts, and business cases
- In this role, you’ll prepare accruals, cost reports, and variance analysis to support month‑end processes
- You’ll collaborate with project teams to gather cost data and provide financial insights
- You’ll review purchase orders, change orders, and commitments to ensure accurate coding and tracking
- You’ll investigate cost variances and provide clear commentary on risks and trends
- You’ll support forecasting activities, including cost‑to‑complete and budget updates
- 5+ years of experience in project accounting, cost accounting, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Excel, including working with large datasets and financial models
- Experience working in project‑based environments such as construction, mining, or manufacturing
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or JDE is considered an asset
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
