Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant is responsible to support the functioning of the day to day operation of the Finance Department. The Junior Accountant works cooperatively with the Accounting Manager in conjunction with Senior Management and Managers to effectively and efficiently manage the financial resources of Blanche River Health.
Core responsibilities include:
- Financial review and analysis of various programs and projects to ensure accuracy and financial objectives are being attained;
- Assist with financial functions related to third party stakeholders;
- Preparation of routine and ad hoc reports;
- Supporting core accounting functions (AP, AR, MM, PP) as required to ensure proper reporting and linkage among shared processes.
Education:
College or University graduate with a degree / diploma in commerce or business administration with a financial / accounting focus, or related discipline is preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

Experience:
- Ability to effectively prioritize various demands while assessing and resolving issues through the use of good judgment;
- Excellent time and workload management practices to ensure adherence to deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and in a team based environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills which support effective working relationships with managers and other employees;
- Minimum of intermediate skill level in the use of computer technology and applications, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Meditech modules which generate financial and statistical reports;
- Excellent written and oral fluency in English is required. Written and oral fluency in both English and French would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of one year experience in a financial role encompassing: i) responsibility for all aspects of financial reporting, analysis and associated processes; ii) working in union / non-union environments; and iii) detailed knowledge of accounting and budgeting concepts.
- Minimum of one year experience with the routine use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Previous financial experience working in a fast‑paced healthcare environment will be considered an asset.
