Envy Consulting Group has been exclusively retained to recruit a Director of Finance for a respected public‑sector organization in Northern Ontario. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced CPA to join the senior leadership team of a well‑established institution that plays a vital role in its community. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll provide strategic financial leadership while overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, risk management, capital planning, and organizational financial performance.

- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning processes.
- Provide strategic financial advice to the executive leadership team and Board.
- Oversee financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, audits, treasury, and risk management.
- Lead capital planning, financial modelling, and business case development.
- Provide oversight of procurement policies, practices, and insurance programs.
- Deliver financial analysis and recommendations supporting new initiatives and operational decisions.
- Monitor organizational performance through budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), applicable legislation, and organizational policies.
We’re interested in connecting with finance leaders who bring:
- CPA designation or equivalent preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Seven or more years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Experience leading budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and strategic financial planning.
- Strong knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) or not‑for‑profit accounting.
- Experience leading and developing finance teams.
- Outstanding analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with in post‑secondary education, healthcare, municipalities, government, or another complex public‑sector organization is considered a strong asset.
