We are looking to hire a Finance Superintendent (hybrid) to join our Timmins Operations team in Timmins, ON., on a full-time basis . The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.
Compensation: This position offers a base salary range of $135,000 -$165,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
Vacancy Status: This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate may begin as soon as possible.
Please note that this role will require periodic site presence.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and accounts payable functions and personnel of LSG. The Accounts Payable Supervisor and Senior Accountant report directly to the Finance Superintendent.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Supply Chain and IT, the Finance Superintendent will have the following responsibilities:
- Oversees month end close activities and completion of accurate and timely financial deliverables in line with internal/corporate timelines
- Ensure weekly payment runs are completed with accuracy and in adherence to financial controls
- Assists in the planning, direction and responsibility for the financial reporting, accounting, data processing and management information systems
- Oversee daily operations and administrative functions for the Accounting and Accounts Payable Department
- Effectively supervising accounting and accounts payable personnel, ensuring optimal performance
- Assist with establishing and maintaining internal controls
- Assists with the coordination and planning of budget, forecasts, and strategic plan preparation for all functional departments
- Responsible for the preparation, maintenance and reporting of internal and external financial records and analyses and assist with the coordination of internal and external audits
- Assists with the development and installation of accounting systems in accordance with corporate policy
- Provides financial reporting and analysis and cost control services in accordance with company systems and procedures
- Administers corporate accounting policies and procedures to ensure financial and operating reports reflect the condition of the operation and provide accurate and reliable information to assess the operations’ performance in conjunction with the Director, Finance
- Liaison with the Corporate Financial team and be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of effective accounting strategies, policies, and procedures as per the strategic direction of the Company and legislated governance
- Financial resources are available to help all functional department heads and assist them with their financial information needs including preparation, assistance with interpretation and guiding the financial decision-making process
- Ensure direct reports understand role expectations and performance measures and are supported in their ongoing professional development
- Establish and maintain effective communication within all levels of the company
- Establishing and maintaining effective business relations with vendors, outside auditors, regulators, and professional trade groups
- Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to LSG

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or Business
- Professional designation of CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) required or equivalent experience
- Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures including IFRS, SOX, and Mining Tax
- Knowledge of government regulations and reporting requirements
- Direct mining experience is considered an asset
- Oracle/Ramesys systems experience is considered an asset
- Knowledgeable of auditing and IT functions
- 8 – 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate oral and written with all levels of the Company
