Keep the mine moving. We're looking for a skilled Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to join our underground service team in Timmins. Working for our Komatsu you will be part of our growing underground mining team, supporting our legacy MTI, Montabert, Timberock and Joy Global family of equipment along with our expanded full suite of Komatsu underground mining machines. Reports to: General Supervisor
Shift: 5x2, 7x7 or 14x14- discussed during recruitment process
Allowances: This role is eligible for additional premiums and company provided service vehicule
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: Up to 40- 60% travel required for this role
Relocation: This role is eligible for relocation
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and servicing on Komatsu underground mining equipment including LHDs, haul trucks, jumbos, bolters and drifters
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, diesel engine, hydraulic, battery electric and electrical systems
- Replace or adjust components and parts to restore equipment performance
- Work directly at customer sites, ensuring timely and effective service
- Uphold and contribute to a strong safety-first culture in every task
- Valid 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification (Red Seal is an asset)
- Applicants holding a valid Truck and Coach Technician certification, with demonstrated experience working on heavy mining equipment, will be considered.
- Proven experience with underground mining equipment is required
- Experience with Montabert drifters, battery electric mining equipment an asset
- Valid Class G drivers' licence, and ability to travel and work overtime as needed
- No restrictions for accessing any mine site
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage shifting priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
