Mechanic, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

Position

Discovery Kidd, a North American precious metals company, is seeking a Mechanic to maintain the site’s mobile fleet and locomotive fleet.

• Complete general maintenance repairs and service calls on all fuel-powered equipment at site – both within and outside the garage environment.
• Complete regular preventative maintenance inspections.
• Identify parts and materials required for equipment repair from equipment manuals and parts list.
• Ensure equipment is functional and safe to operate.
• Provide failure analysis.
• Perform minor cutting and welding repairs as required.
• Suggest substitutions or upgrades to reduce costs or increase service life when appropriate.

• A minimum of a Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician, Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
• Experience maintaining and repairing locomotives and other tracked equipment preferred.
• Good understanding of diesel and gasoline fueled systems.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanic in an industrial setting with automotive and heavy equipment (e.g., loaders, graders, dump trucks, forklifts, dozers).
• Completion or recent completion of CAAT and DAT testing in a satisfactory manner.
• Alternative Fuel Technician license considered an asset.
