Our client is a leading privately held and growing manufacturer that provides innovative solutions to a wide variety of clients within the packaging industry. In this controls engineering role, you will be responsible for full spectrum controls engineering tasks from concept to hand off to the production floor.

- For more than 50 years, our client has built a reputation for engineering innovation and for providing flexible and responsive solutions to the packaging industry
- Based in suburban Chicago with a growing manufacturing footprint
- Design electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
- Design, develop and program PLC, HMI, and motion controls from scratch
- Develop new electrical designs for both standard and custom equipment
- Oversee project panel builds and if required build electrical panels from the ground up
- Develop and set up vision systems for applications such as angle detection, orientation detection, and feature detection using various tools
- Develop plans and schedules for projects while interacting with customers
- Prepare operator manuals, user manuals and other project documentation as needed
- Ability to travel periodically up to 30% of the time for startups, installations, and to resolve field issues
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- At least 5 years experience of automation and controls engineering
- Proficiency programming Allen Bradley controls
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
