Pastoral Associate – St. George Church – Tinley Park – Vic. V

We invite a person of faith to serve as Pastoral Associate at Saint George. The role requires personal presence, a generous heart, and a desire to serve the community. The Pastoral Associate reports to the Director of Life‑Long Formation and works closely with the pastor, clergy, and staff members.
Responsibilities- Children’s Faith Formation – recruit and form catechists, organize class schedules, supervise enrollment, tuition collection, and maintain sacramental records.
- Liturgy Coordinator – establish, educate, and organize parishioners for meaningful liturgical celebrations, working with priests, deacons, music director, and ministry coordinators.
- Bereavement Ministry – supervise the group to provide comfort and assistance to those grieving, including scheduled meetings.
- Care‑givers Support Group – supervise support for home care‑givers, offering in‑person and Zoom meetings.
- Participation and presence at major parish events.
- Be a practicing Catholic with previous experience in a parish faith formation program.
- Strong commitment to the Catholic faith and desire to spread the faith.
- Clear understanding of Children’s Faith Formation approaches, methodologies, and strategies.
- Familiarity with Church documents and teachings in faith formation and evangelization.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with clergy, staff, and parish leaders/volunteers.
- Willingness to share one’s own faith journey.
- Good compassionate leadership, maintain healthy relationships with boundaries.
- Familiarity with technology for catechesis, faith formation, or evangelization.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, collaborative, and organized.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Previous experience directing a component of a Children’s Faith Formation program.
- Ability to apply knowledge of stages of human development and faith formation best practices.
Available to work evenings and weekends as ministry may require.
CompensationThe position has an annualized salary range of $48,000.00 – $58,000.00, based on qualifications, experience, and location. The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive compensation and benefit programs.
