This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Position Summary
As the Senior Technical Project Manager for Lunar HLS Vertical Integration, you will serve as the critical interface between Blue Origin's Human Landing System (HLS) program Operations team and the enterprise-wide Vertical Integration team. You will be responsible for representing the lunar program's core components and subassemblies, ensuring alignment between program needs and manufacturing capabilities while driving strategic decisions on make-versus-buy, production optimization, and supply chain integration.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary technical representative for the Lunar HLS program on Blue Origin's enterprise-wide Vertical Integration team
- Lead technical coordination of lunar core components and subassemblies across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain organizations
- Develop comprehensive project plans for the vertical integration of lunar systems, including timelines, resource allocation, and technical requirements
- Analyze make-versus-buy decisions for critical lunar components, evaluating technical capability, cost implications, schedule impacts, and strategic value
- Establish manufacturing readiness assessments for lunar hardware and drive process improvements for production efficiency
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure manufacturing capabilities align with lunar program requirements and schedules
- Identify opportunities to leverage Blue Origin's vertical integration capabilities to reduce program risk and enhance performance
- Collaborate with systems engineering to ensure that vertically integrated components meet all technical requirements and quality standards
- Manage interdependencies between vertically integrated lunar components and externally sourced systems
- Develop metrics and reporting methodologies to track vertical integration progress and effectiveness
- Drive resolution of technical and programmatic issues that impact vertical integration efforts
- Build and maintain relationships across Blue Origin divisions to optimize enterprise-wide manufacturing capabilities for lunar systems
- Present vertical integration strategies and status to senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related technical field
- 10+ years of technical project management experience in aerospace or related high-technology industries
- 5+ years of experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle components and manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional team leadership and stakeholder management
- Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing and production systems
- Experience with project planning, scheduling, and resource management
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority
- Master's degree in engineering, technical management, or related field
- Experience with lunar systems, human spaceflight, or NASA programs
- Knowledge of NASA human rating requirements and space-rated hardware production
- Background in vertical integration strategies for complex aerospace systems
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credential
- Experience with manufacturing readiness assessments and technology readiness levels
- Demonstrated success in optimizing make-versus-buy decisions in aerospace programs
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time between Blue Origin facilities
