Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) crossover responsibilities. This role involves caring for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, post-cardiac intervention recovery, and complex medical management.
The unit functions as a mixed-level care environment , combining Med Surg, Telemetry, and PCU patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong assessment skills, proficiency in cardiac monitoring, and the ability to manage a 1:6 patient ratio in a fast-paced acute care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a mixed MS/Tele and PCU setting.
Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms, intervening promptly when changes occur.
Administer and manage cardiac drips (no titration) and other intravenous medications.
Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management (including PICC lines).
Manage oxygen therapy, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and other respiratory interventions.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapists, and physical therapists to optimize patient outcomes.
Participate in Rapid Response and Code Blue situations as required.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding care plans and discharge processes.
Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the Meditech charting system.
Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and quality standards.
Attend and complete a mandatory five-shift clinical orientation week (36–40 hours) .

Qualifications & Requirements:
Active RN license (state-specific and in good standing).
Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in an MS/Tele or PCU/Stepdown environment.
Required patient ratio experience: 1:6 (1:5 experience may be considered if clearly documented).
Certifications
Required:
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
NIHSS (Stroke Scale Certification)
Required Skills:
IV therapy and phlebotomy
Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
Central and peripheral line care
Chest tube management
CVA and post-cardiac event care
Isolation and infection control precautions
Wound care and use of wound VAC systems
