This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As a Senior Automation Controls Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the production support of our tooling in the Factory at Rocket Park area. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and continuous improvement of our manufacturing equipment, contributing directly to the success of Blue Origin’s mission.

- Diagnosis, troubleshooting and modification of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and safety control systems.
- Diagnosis, troubleshooting and modification of program logic.
- Connect and integrate new and existing equipment into Blue networks to support IIoT initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Factory Automation team to optimize existing automated equipment.
- 3+ years of experience developing, modifying, or troubleshooting industrial CNC control systems (e.g., Siemens 840D-SL, FANUC 30i/31i/32i).
- 3+ years of experience with controls and automation software development environments (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, FANUC PMC, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience with common automation control systems (e.g., PLCs, Robots, CNC).
- Familiarity with industrial safety systems (e.g., Siemens SI, FANUC DCS).
- Understanding of Functional Safety.
- A demonstrated ability to interpret and review electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
- Experience with industrial networking and communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience with IIoT protocols and platforms (e.g., MTConnect, OPC-UA).
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and visualization.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing or aerospace environment.
- Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing up and down stairs and/or ladders regularly throughout the day.
- Ability to lift lightweight supplies or materials (up to 25lbs unassisted).
- Available to work overtime and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required.
- Occasional travel to other Blue Origin or 3rd party facilities, up to 25%.
