General DescriptionThe RN Infusion Scheduling Coordinator reports to Infusion Center Department Head. The RN Infusion Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and scheduling safe, efficient, and clinically appropriate infusion therapy services within the infusion center. This role performs clinical review of provider orders, assesses treatment readiness, coordinates infusion scheduling, and ensures required authorizations, laboratory results, and clinical documentation are completed prior to treatment.
The RN Infusion Coordinator utilizes clinical judgment to identify and elevate potential treatment concerns, support protocol compliance, and promote high-quality patient care throughout the infusion scheduling and coordination process. This position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
- Review provider infusion orders for completeness, accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety, including dosing, indications, laboratory requirements, consents, and treatment parameters.
- Assess patient treatment readiness including required laboratory tests, diagnostics, and authorizations completed prior to scheduling treatment.
- Identify incomplete, unclear, or potentially inappropriate orders and collaborate with providers to clarify or correct as needed.
- Monitor and flag abnormal laboratory results, contraindications, or clinical concerns for provider review before treatment administration.
- Ensure adherence to established infusion protocols, standing orders, and clinical guidelines.
- Schedule infusion appointments according to treatment protocols, medication administration times, staffing availability, and chair capacity.
- Modify schedules as needed based on patient condition, laboratory results, provider instructions, or urgent treatment requests.
- Maintain accurate scheduling records and ensure timely patient follow-up and appointment confirmation.
- Serve as a liaison between providers, patients, pharmacy, insurance, and billing teams to facilitate coordinated patient care.
- Participate in workflow improvement initiatives to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered infusion operations.
- Participate in Quality Monitoring/Performance Improvement. Incorporates evidence-based practices into daily care.
- Perform similar or related duties as assigned.
- Know fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 to 2 years of clinical experience in infusion services, oncology, specialty pharmacy, nursing coordination, or healthcare scheduling preferred.
- State of Florida RN license required.
- BLS through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
