Job Summary
Assists in managing the daily operations of the floral department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing floral products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs being mindful of merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by embracing the backgrounds and experiences of the team.
Responsibilities- SERVICE: 40% – Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated, increasing customer confidence and loyalty. Ensures the department is merchandised per plan. Delivers daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for at-shelf product availability, freshness, quality and value. Designs floral arrangements, boutonnieres, corsages, funeral sprays, etc. Merchandises product to reflect the season and maintains department visual standards.
Offers product samples, answers product questions and assists customers in finding or suggesting products. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled. - FINANCIAL: 30% – Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks (communications, online training, etc.). Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports discrepancies. Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Assists in organizing and performing the inventory process. Ensures product is held at the proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs per policy.
- LEADERSHIP: 20% – Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job-specific information. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10% – Maintains safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity. Adheres to regulatory requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA. Executes product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner while ensuring items are secured and removed from customer access. Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and inspecting unsafe conditions. Notifies management of accidents. Reports safety risks or issues, and illegal activity including theft.
Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies and regulations. Promotes a culture of safety and ensures associates are trained. Ensures Hazardous Assessments are posted and PPE is available. Ensures equipment is in good repair and assists with remediation of safety hazards.
- Required Education – High School / GED
- Preferred Education – High School / GED with preferred language requirements:
English, Spanish - Relevant Experience – Supervisory Experience; 0 - 3 yrs minimum
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – Minimum 18 years of age; ability to pass background and drug test; knowledge of plants, cut flowers and arrangements; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to work all floral holidays, weekends/overtime occasionally, and any shift; ability to meet deadlines; ability to operate floral tools and equipment; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to organize/prioritize tasks;
proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; any licenses or certificates required by federal and/or state

Physical Demands, Working Conditions, and Safety Risk Factors are described as follows: standing/walking on varied surfaces; manual tasks; exposure to indoor/outdoor, cold, heated, and wet/humid environments; potential exposure to hazardous equipment, sharp objects, allergens, and cleaning solutions; lifting up to specified weights; occasional ascent to heights; use of various equipment and tools; PPE usage as required; driving or operating equipment as needed.
