$25.18 to $27.70 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. North Area/Titusville/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and complex repair of heavy diesel and/or gasoline vehicles and equipment.
RequirementsSix (6) years of experience in heavy equipment mechanics, including two (2) years of diesel engine mechanics OR Two (2) years of experience with Brevard County as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic I. Successful completion of course work in heavy equipment mechanics or closely related field at a post-secondary school may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of one year (1,080 class hours [1 school year] = 1 year of experience;
120 class hours = 1 month of experience). Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess and maintain during the term of employment the following Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications: A7 or T7 – Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, T2 - Diesel Engines, T4 - Brakes PLUS two (2) additional medium/heavy equipment ASE certifications.
Must have ample personal tool inventory to efficiently perform required installation and maintenance services. This is heavy physical work performed outdoors and involves exposure to dirt, water, noise, traffic, moving machinery, and extreme weather conditions. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
