- Determines income eligibility for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) based on Federal, State income guidelines.
- Obtains demographic data though telephone and face-to-face interviews with clients.
- Accurately enters data into the electronic medical record.
- Notifies clients of their rights and responsibilities as a program participant.
- Issues WIC Program benefits to eligible clients. Instructs clients on the redemption process of WIC Program benefits.
- Schedules appointments for WIC clients.
- Answers questions from WIC clients and the public regarding WIC Program services.
- Offers the opportunity for voter registration to each eligible parent/participant ure voter registration preference forms for each applicable participant is completed and maintained according to local procedures.
- Provides a limited amount of standardized nutrition education, breastfeeding support to WIC clients.
- Refers clients to other resources and community organizations as needed.
- Travels to clinic sites in Brevard County as needed.
- Must be willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of an emergency. This includes emergency duties including, but not limited to, response to threats involving any disaster, man-made or natural.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to obtain and accurately document data
- Experience in typing and computer data entry, knowledgeable with computers basics, experience and knowledge with:
Microsoft office, Word, Excel, Outlook - Experience with following policies and rules in a professional environment
Qualifications:
- Willingness to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of an emergency. This includes emergency duties including, but not limited to, response to threats involving any disaster, man-made or natural.
- This position requires the successful incumbent to work in various clinic locations and other community partners in Brevard County.
- Ability to solve challenging customer service situations.
- Must have experience in typing and computer data entry with accuracy.
- Ability to fluently read, write, and speak both English and Spanish or Creole preferred.
