Assistant Gas Engineer
Salary: £30000 p/annum

Based in Tiverton/Exeter
Hours:
Full-time, 42.5 hours p/week.
We're currently recruiting for a Mains & Services Assistant Engineer to join a busy and growing team working on gas network installations.
About the RoleThis is a hands-on, varied position supporting Mains & Services Gas Engineers across a wide range of domestic and commercial projects. Work includes installing pipework, supporting underground vessel installations, and working across new housing developments and caravan parks.
You will be involved in:
- Assisting with installation of gas pipework to domestic properties
- Working with various specialist equipment for trenchless pipe installation (training provided)
- Digging pits manually (ground conditions permitting) and completing reinstatement
- Supporting underground vessel installations (working alongside excavator teams)
- Testing and commissioning pipework
- Working on new build sites (open trench) and commercial installations
This is an outdoor role in a physically demanding environment, working in all weather conditions

- Support Mains & Services Engineers in daily operations
- Ensure high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Deliver excellent customer service when working on-site
- Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork
- Follow company quality procedures and safe working practices
- Use tools and equipment in line with best practice
- Contribute to operational efficiency and team performance
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- SHEA Gas (Desired, but not essential)
- Qualifications in Fresh Air Breathing Apparatus and Abrasive Wheels (Desired, but not essential)
- NPORS (or similar) Forward Tipping Dumper (Desired, but not essential)
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a physically demanding role
- Good awareness of health & safety practices
- Monday to Friday working
- Overtime paid at 1.5x rate
