The Tiverton School Department seeks an experienced, student-centered, collaborative, and visionary educational leader to serve as Principal of Tiverton Middle School.
The Principal is the instructional and operational leader of the school and is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment in which every student is known, valued, challenged, and supported.
The Principal will work closely with students, families, faculty, staff, district administrators, and community partners to advance the mission and priorities of Tiverton Public Schools.
The successful candidate will be a visible and accessible leader who builds trust, develops strong relationships, supports teachers and staff, uses data to improve student outcomes, and holds high expectations for both student achievement and adult performance.

Essential Responsibilities Instructional Leadership- Establish and communicate a clear vision for teaching and learning aligned with district goals and the Tiverton Public Schools strategic plan.
- Serve as the school's instructional leader and promote high-quality, standards-aligned instruction.
- Use student achievement, attendance, behavioral, and other relevant data to identify needs and develop improvement strategies.
- Conduct meaningful teacher observations and evaluations that promote professional growth and improved instructional practice.
- Support effective implementation of district curriculum, instructional programs, assessment practices, MTSS, and intervention systems.
- Promote differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning, and appropriate supports for diverse learners.
- Lead professional learning and create a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor student progress and ensure appropriate interventions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Create a school culture characterized by high expectations, belonging, respect, responsibility, and positive relationships.
- Ensure that student discipline is fair, consistent, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with district policy and applicable law.
- Promote effective implementation of PBIS, SEL, restorative practices, and other evidence-based approaches that support positive student behavior and engagement.
- Ensure students with disabilities, multilingual learners, students experiencing challenges, and other historically underserved students receive appropriate supports and opportunities.
- Maintain a safe and orderly school environment.
- Develop strong systems for attendance, student engagement, and dropout prevention.
- Be highly visible and accessible to students throughout the school day.
- Recruit, select, supervise, evaluate, and retain highly effective faculty and staff.
- Establish clear expectations for professional conduct, performance, collaboration, and accountability.
- Develop strong professional learning communities and promote collaboration among teachers and staff.
- Support teacher leadership and encourage staff members to contribute to school improvement.
- Address personnel matters promptly, fairly, and in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, district policies, and applicable law.

- Establish positive, respectful, and responsive relationships with students and families.
