Assistant Director Of Nursing Services Part-Time

The Assistant Director is a professional nurse responsible for the coordination and supervision of nursing units on an assigned shift. The assistant Director is responsible in the absence of a department manager, the Director of Nursing Services or the Hospital Administrator.
EducationMinimum of BSN preferred
Licensure / CertificationCurrent Georgia RN License.
ACLS provider certification preferred (within six months); certification in specialty area preferred.
Duties And Responsibilities- Extends courtesy and demonstrates cooperation while communicating with others
- Gives a concise, pertinent report to the oncoming AD or Nurse Manager at the change of shifts
- Utilizes effective communication skills with patient, families, Charge Nurse, Medical Staff, Director, peers and Nurse Managers in a pleasant positive manner
- Accepts suggestions and criticisms and whenever necessary undertakes to change personal behavior or seek further guidance
- Effectively leads and directs activities of others in a positive manner
- Supports the philosophy, policies and procedures of the Division of Nursing
- Demonstrates skill in supervising subordinates in performing their duties
- Provides input into staff evaluations and goal setting
- Assists with orientation
- Counsels personnel and documents as needed during the shift
- Participates on committees
- Participates and responds to code blue calls
- Assumes responsibility in external disaster as assigned
- Assumes responsibility in internal disaster situations as assigned
- Contributes to the overall management of the Nursing department
- Provides input for budget development
- Assists in development and monitoring of QI program and participates in program
- Provides input for goal setting and assists in achievement
- Obtains supplies from Purchasing and CSR after hours
- Obtains medical records from record room after hours
- Assures that census is correct
- Accepts accountability for own actions
- Displays positive attitude toward institution, profession and departments
- Channels frustration/concerns appropriately

- Assesses emergency or life threatening clinical situations appropriately
- Demonstrates knowledge of drug used
- Identifies and reports adverse drug reactions per policy
- Demonstrates proper use of IV equipment and technique
- Provides protective environment; does not leave unattended.
- Assesses and interprets data relative to patient’s age.
- Involves parents in administration and planning of care.
- Evaluates for age appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms.
- Determines and documents head circumference.
- Evaluates and documents for signs/symptoms of abuse and neglect.
- Determines and documents immunization status.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to cues that indicate infant is over stressed and initiates appropriate soothing measures.
