Purpose of JobThe Corporate Accounting Leader serves as a key member of the Global Finance Operations and Reporting (GFOR) organization, supporting the Assistant Corporate Controller in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant financial results. The role is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of corporate accounting processes, financial close activities and internal controls while helping maintain the integrity of the company's financial information and compliance requirements.
This position also serves as a strategic accounting advisor to the organization by providing technical accounting expertise, supporting the adoption of new accounting standards, and guiding stakeholders through complex accounting matters. By partnering with senior management and cross-functional teams, the role drives continuous improvement in accounting and reporting processes, enhances operational effectiveness, and supports informed business decision-making across the enterprise.
Job Responsibilities Corporate Accounting & Financial Close- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for Corporate areas including a portion of Doors.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses while maintaining a thorough understanding of the financial reporting structure.
- Oversee accounting activities supporting Corporate areas and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Supervise quarterly balance sheet review processes and drive meaningful financial insights and analytics.
- Resolve close-related issues, analyze results and lead corrective action and root cause analysis efforts.
- Serve as the accounting lead for complex areas including derivatives, capital market transactions, pensions, stock compensation, foreign currency, complex energy transactions, incentive programs, investments and other significant accounting matters.
- Responsible for the accounting of proposals from the Structured Transaction Governance Committee (STGC) and support of the Commodity Risk Management Committee (CRMC).
- Prepare technical accounting analyses and position papers for complex or non-routine transactions.
- Provide accounting guidance and recommendations to business partners and leadership.
- Partner with external specialists and service providers to support accounting conclusions, valuations and reporting requirements.
- Oversee preparation and facilitate review of specialized financial statement disclosures including EPS, debt, pension/other post-employment benefits, derivatives and other related footnotes.
- Support the external reporting team during quarterly and annual 10-Q/10-K activities, ensuring accurate and compliant disclosures.
- Monitor applicable emerging accounting and disclosure requirements for Corporate areas and coordinate with the external reporting team.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis, accounting guidance, and recommendations to business leaders and senior management.
- Partner with finance, accounting, and operational leaders to address business and accounting challenges.
- Support acquisition integration activities and the implementation of accounting processes for newly acquired businesses.
- Represents the accounting function as a member of the Compensation Governance Committee.
- Responsible for approval of Corporate contracts and capital spend over established thresholds.
- Represents the accounting function as a member of the Global Pension Governance Committee in order to assess accounting implications on proposed transactions.
- Establish forecasts for applicable Corporate areas as needed and coordinate with Corporate FP&A.
- Support IT implementations for the transition and design of new systems for applicable Corporate areas.
