General Summary
The Event Coordinator is a vital member of the Rocket Career Center team, responsible for leading efforts in data management, event logistics, and Handshake platform administration. This position ensures smooth operations across a wide range of functions, including compiling and analyzing data for reports, managing departmental budgets, and maintaining accurate records for presentations and major project plans for events.
Additionally, the role serves as the primary administrator for Handshake—reviewing and approving employers and job postings, managing events and career fairs within the platform, and providing technical support to students, staff, and external partners.
The successful candidate will:

  • Support Office Administration:
    Serve as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners; coordinate schedules and requests; manage purchasing and budget tracking; maintain records; prepare reports; and support the Center's communications and web content.
  • Coordinate Events and Programs:
    Plan and coordinate the logistics for career fairs, employer events, workshops, presentations, and other programs, including registration, communications, facilities and technology needs, purchasing, financial transactions, attendance tracking, and post-event reporting.
  • Administer Handshake:
    Serve as a primary administrator for the University's Handshake career platform by reviewing and approving employers, jobs, events, and career fairs; troubleshooting user issues; supporting students, staff, and employers; and developing and maintaining reports through Handshake Analytics.

This is a detail-oriented, data-driven position requiring a high degree of accuracy in managing information, budgets, records, and reports. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with data, analyzing information, identifying trends or discrepancies, and using technology and analytical tools to produce accurate reports that support decision-making. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and technical skills are essential for success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required and minimum of one (1) year related work experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher education experience preferred.
  • Experience with webforms and Microsoft forms preferred
  • Experience with Handshake, online job platform, a plus.
  • Experience with Canva, graphic design platform, a plus
  • Experience with Modern Campus CMS or other website editing platforms, a plus
