SummaryMosser Construction Inc. (Mosser) has an immediate opening for a Heavy Civil Project Engineer in the Fremont/Toledo, Ohio region. This individual will support all aspects of the project team, including project managers, superintendents, field crews, and administrative staff.
This role is heavily field-integrated and focused on infrastructure work such as site development, underground utilities (water, sanitary, storm), earthwork, and roadway construction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Project Execution Support:
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules and phasing plans.
- Track installed quantities and support cost control.
- Assist in forecasting labor, equipment, and materials.
- Serve as a link between field crews, superintendents, and project managers.
- Maintain daily communication on jobsite progress and constraints.
- Participate in field walks and planning meetings.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers for sequencing and deliveries.
- Assist with subcontract scopes and procurement.
- Support change order pricing.
- Maintain RFIs, submittals, drawings, and daily reports.
- Track quantities for pay applications.
- Assist with change management and cost tracking.
- Support layout verification with survey crews.
- Interpret plans for grading and utility installation.
- Coordinate with inspectors and agencies.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs for civil work.
- Support scope development and subcontractor outreach.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; construction software preferred.
- Growth mindset and willingness to learn field operations.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. - Experience:
0–5 years in heavy civil or infrastructure construction. - Experience with earthwork, utilities, or site development preferred.
- Familiarity with scheduling and project management tools preferred.
