SUMMARY

The Temporary Exhibition Experience Host is a temporary position that supports a welcoming, safe, and engaging visitor experience during a special temporary artist exhibition. This temporary position serves as a visible and approachable presence within the museum spaces by assisting visitors with way finding, answering questions, supporting exhibition flow, interactive activities and helping create positive guest interactions. This position will serve as the principal point of contact within the show, helping to enhance the visitor experience through creative engagement, and will help bring the museum experience to life through hospitality, professionalism, and engagement with visitors of all backgrounds.

This role is best suited for individuals who enjoy interacting with the public and creating positive visitor experiences. Candidates should demonstrate warm engaging presence and the ability to proactively assist and interact with visitors.

KEY

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Welcomes and positively engages with guests in the temporary exhibition gallery while providing directions and information regarding the campus, permanent collection, special events, and special exhibitions and artists.

Responsible for assigned tasks associated with the temporary exhibition.

Provide clear messaging to visitors regarding the temporary exhibition.

Support visitor flow and occupancy within the temporary exhibition area(s).

Monitors and accurately reports capacity within the temporary exhibition.

Actively promotes Museum membership, special events, exhibitions, and merchandise while engaging visitors.

Conducts visitor surveys and records general visitor responses to the temporary exhibition.

Responsible for proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and de-escalating issues occurring in the galleries.

Works closely with Protective Services to ensure the safety of visitors and the collection; actively promotes the safety policies of the Museum.

Supports accessibility and inclusive visitor experiences.

Assist with special events associated with the temporary exhibition including member preview, evening programs, or high-volume visitation periods as assigned.

Represent the museum with professionalism, warmth and courtesy.

Attends mandatory training programs provided by the Art Museum.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in visitor service, hospitality, customer services or sales
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES
