Job Description
Established in 1984, Equitas Health is a regional not‑for‑profit community‑based healthcare system and federally qualified community health center look‑alike. Its expanded mission has made it one of the nation’s largest HIV/AIDS, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) healthcare organizations. With 22 offices in 12 cities, it serves more than 67,000 individuals in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia each year through its diverse healthcare and social service delivery system focused around primary and specialized medical care, retail pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, HIV/STI prevention, advocacy, and community health initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive oral health assessments: reviewing medical histories, taking dental X‑rays, and assessing oral health conditions.
- Perform dental cleanings & periodontal care: prophylaxis, scaling & root planing, polishing, treating periodontal diseases, placing sealants, administering localized antibiotics, assisting with anesthetic, etc.
- Provide patient education: oral hygiene instructions, nutritional counseling, and guidance on preventive measures to maintain optimal oral health, including proper brushing, flossing, and other home‑care techniques.
This position is eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
Salary Rate$81,950–100,000 annual with a $5,000 sign‑on bonus.

- Valid Dental Hygienist license in the state of practice.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry.
- Strong understanding of anatomy as it relates to oral health.
- Proficiency in patient care techniques and assessment methods.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role.
- In‑depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g., HIPAA).
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- A patient and friendly personality.
- Attention to detail.
- Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene.
- Dentrix experience.
- EHR experience preferred.
- Valid license to practice.
- A self‑driven individual willing to help in areas outside of hygiene when required.
- Associate’s Degree.
- Registered Dental Hygiene active state license, including but not limited to radiograph, CPR, and local anesthesia state‑required certifications.
