Pool Adjunct Faculty, Chemistry; Lecture

Position: Applicant Pool for Adjunct Faculty, Chemistry (Lecture)
This position requires teaching undergraduates, and applicants must provide evidence of teaching potential.
This position teaches college-level & pre-college level Science Composition courses and Science related courses.
Familiarity with current pedagogical strategies that will enhance critical thinking with students.
Effectively communicate with students on a regular basis. Provide students with regular feedback on progress.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment. Ability to enhance instruction with use of technology. Effective classroom management. Teaching faculty at Owens Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field.

Understanding of process based writing. Familiarity with adult learning theory.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the principles of Chemistry to an extent where the successful candidate would be comfortable in teaching courses from basic Chemistry to College level Chemistry.
Knowledge of student-centered, tutoring strategies. Knowledge of Microsoft software.
Verbal and written interpersonal communication skills. Computer skills including Microsoft software. Familiarity with appropriate instructional and course management software.

The ability to communicate effectively with both small and large groups. Proficiency in designing and grading tests. Ability to create effective instructional materials.

ENGAGESINOTHERDEPARTMENT-RELATED ACTIVITIES
1. Attends Department and College workshops, training sessions, and development activities as needed.
2. Attends Department and College meetings as necessary.
3. Participates in student learning assessment activities.
4. Performs other departmental duties, as assigned.

Ability to work with other faculty members in small groups, maintain a positive demeanor in the presence of students, and work cooperatively with faculty and administration. Strong commitment to continued professional growth and development.
