The STEM Department Chair is responsible for developing, improving and growing the specific academic STEM program areas. Provide leadership to other faculty in the departments and will also teach for the institution. The STEM Department Chair will be responsible for teaching graduate-level courses in the Master of Science in Management program and undergraduate courses in the STEM program areas, including developing and delivering advanced curriculum content.
Advise graduate students, assess learning outcomes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the academic programs. Develop and examine curriculum core objectives, course description updates, course syllabi and course outlines annually to assure program effectiveness. Assist with the development of curriculum for online classes/programs as needed. Ensure software requirements for academic programs/classes have been set up with the IT Department a month prior to the beginning of the course.
Participate and provide guidance of academic program assessment using the academic program review and assist academic services with evaluation of transfer of credits, proficiency examinations, and experiential learning credit, as needed.
Teach students course materials and assess their performance through direct and indirect assessment methods. Collaborate with instructors to design, direct, and assess co-curricular activities (1 or 2 minimum per academic year). Other responsibilities include creating and delivering an annual report that includes departmental results, goals, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Complete annual curriculum mapping activities to verify curriculum effectiveness. Davis University expects the STEM Department Chair to engage in consistent and meaningful communication with department instructors, monitor overall departmental performance, including observations of adjunct faculty, and have a minimum of two (2) posted office hours each week.
Conduct annual advisory committee meetings and develop meaningful connections in the community and build global collaboration and exchange programs with international institutions.

- Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
- 36 months of teaching experience in the related curriculum.
