Applicant Pool for Aspire ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Instructor (Grant‑Funded)

Overview

Aspire ESOL Instructor (Formerly ABLE ESOL Instructor) provides free services for adult individuals who need assistance acquiring the skills to be successful in post‑secondary education, training, and employment. Classes are offered in multiple locations and at varying times to meet student needs. Instructors deliver curriculum based on State ESOL standards, maintain confidential records, and engage in professional development and team meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively manage the Aspire classroom and meet student and program outcomes according to Ohio minimum levels of performance.
  • Instruct English learners of various levels in the same class.
  • Complete and submit student enrollment and progress data accurately and according to program deadlines.
  • Create and follow lesson plans that address various student learning styles and incorporate basic technology tools.
  • Utilize the Ohio Aspire Student Experience Model and maintain all required elements.
  • Complete all state‑required professional development by posted deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
  • Knowledge of research‑based instructional strategies.
  • Knowledge of State Aspire Policy.
  • Knowledge of ESOL strategies and standards (fluency in another language is NOT required).
  • Proficiency with MS Office and general computer operation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with file‑sharing technology.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to multiple degrees of skill in one lesson.
Minimum Education /Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One or more years of teaching experience.
