Job Description Instructor for face‑to‑face, online, and/or hybrid Clinical Instructor MRI courses for the Toledo campus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
This position requires classroom and/or online instruction in the discipline. The instructor must be knowledgeable in the discipline and provide high‑quality instruction. The instructor must demonstrate integration of appropriate practices of teaching to different learning styles.
Written and oral communication.Problem‑solving.Critical thinking.Computer use, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or other required programs, Blackboard, and Owens email.Integrate diverse methodologies to facilitate student learning.Understand the needs of community college students.Manage a classroom, including organizing and presenting material, designing lessons and activities, and monitoring student behavior and performance.Follow instructions and meet deadlines.Recognize students’ strengths and weaknesses in the discipline and provide feedback to facilitate learning.Evaluate student work fairly using Department guidelines.Essential Functions

Develops a syllabus for the class using the assigned syllabus shell, including designing an evaluation procedure that falls within the parameters of the syllabus shell and creating a calendar of assignments in accordance with the course outline.Prepares lesson plans and conducts classes during scheduled times using Department‑approved text(s).Follows Department guidelines for course content and best practices.Meets classes on all scheduled dates during the assigned semester.Meets classes on time and holds classes for their fully allotted time.If teaching online, respects the Owens Community College Standards for Web Instruction.Uses appropriate classroom management techniques.Uses appropriate means and methods of technology.Creates and Maintains Assignments, Evaluative Measures, and Records
Creates and evaluates assignments, evaluative measures, and activities appropriate to the class.Assigns grades to student work.Returns graded assignments, evaluative measures, and activities to students in a timely manner; returns student work and posts grades within a week.Maintains accurate and thorough records of student attendance.Reports student attendance as required, by the published deadline.Maintains an accurate and thorough electronic grade book.At the end of the term, reports grades to the Records Office by the deadline and submits electronic copies of grade book and attendance to the Department course management site.Administers course evaluations as instructed by the College.Communicates Effectively
Uses the College’s course management system for assigned courses and department matters as appropriate.Uses MS Office Suite and/or other required (and Owens-system-compatible and approved) programs.Submits electronic copies of all requested documents (including syllabi, grade books, attendance records, and other files).Accesses Owens email account at least every other day to communicate adequately with students and the Department Chair; reading and replying to all required messages within 48 hours.Checks campus mailbox at least once a week.Responds to student inquiries outside of class in a timely manner.Is available to meet additionally with students outside of class, if necessary.Engages in Other Department‑Related Activities
Attends Department and School meetings as necessary.Participates in student learning assessment activities.Performs other departmental duties as assigned.Other Characteristics
