Pool Tutors, Accounting and Business

Job Overview

Accounting and Business tutors will work one‑on‑one or in small groups with undergraduate students.

• Support students’ success by creating an optimum learning environment.
• Lead students to a greater understanding of course materials.
• Analyze student needs and explain materials in a variety of ways to build confidence and comprehension.
• Help students understand and apply underlying principles and develop critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Prepare for tutoring by becoming familiar with textbooks, software, and teaching tools used in courses.
• Document tutoring sessions accurately to support reporting requirements.

• Associate degree in accounting or business or a two‑year technical certificate; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of student‑centered tutoring strategies and the tutoring discipline.
• Strong interpersonal, computer, and multi‑tasking skills.
• Ability to collaborate with others and work independently.
• Teaching or tutoring experience at the college level desirable.
• Ability to work with students from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
