Teaching faculty at Owens Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. The applicant will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
This position requires teaching undergraduates, and applicants must provide evidence of teaching potential specifically in the discipline of Diesel Technology.
This position requires classroom and lab instruction in the discipline. The instructor must be knowledgeable in diesel technology in regards to engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive train & axles, suspension & steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating & air conditioning, and engine performance; and must provide quality instruction. The instructor must have a demonstrated knowledge of and integration of appropriate practices of teaching different learning styles.
The position requires strong skills in the following:

The position requires the individual to have the ability to:
- Integrate a variety of methodologies in order to facilitate student learning.
- Understand the needs of community college students.
- Manage a classroom, including organizing and presenting material, designing lessons and activities that will facilitate student learning, and monitoring student behavior and performance.
- Follow instructions and meet deadlines.
- Recognize students’ strengths and weaknesses in the discipline and provide feedback to students in a way that facilitates their learning.
- Evaluate student work fairly using department guidelines.
- Prepare and deliver course materials in accordance to the course syllabi.
- Maintain organized records of student’s activities and grades.
- Advise department chair of materials needed prior to class.

- Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school.
- Must meet one of the following:
- Industry certification by ASE or Manufacturer in similar discipline.
- Baccalaureate degree and 2 years experience in discipline of instruction.
- Associate’s degree and 4 years experience in discipline of instruction.
- 6 years experience in discipline of instruction.
