Position:
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Neurology, specializing in Epileptology. The Department of Neurology provides clinical services to the community of NW Ohio and SE Michigan for all types of neurological disorders. The mission is to educate students, residents, fellows, and develop research programs related to neurological disorders.
- EEG service – on call 7 days at a time (24 hours per day), rotation of 1 in 6.
- IOM reading – opportunity to read IOM 1–2 days per week.
- General Neurology inpatient service (primary or consult) – 4–8 weeks per year (night call every other night during those weeks).
- Outpatient clinic – 6–8 half days per year.
- Resident outpatient continuity clinic staffing – 6–8 days per year.
- Teaching: actively participate in educational programs, including medical student lecture series, teaching conferences, postgraduate courses, and precepting/mentoring.
- Teaching pre-clerkship medical students in classroom, small groups, and clinical settings.
- Teaching rounds and ambulatory clinics with medical students during clerkship and advanced rotations.
- Didactics for medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Mentorship and advising for students, residents, and fellows.
- Departmental conferences such as Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Grand Rounds, and Journal Clubs.
- Clinical: participate in neurology practice, inpatient and outpatient services; EEG reading 8–12 weeks per year; inpatient admitting/consult 4–8 weeks; outpatient clinic assigned for 6–8 half days per week outside service; opportunity to read IOM several days per week.
- Research/Scholarship: conduct research and scholarly activities with expectation of intramural and extramural grant funding.
- Administration/Service: participate in administrative/serving roles of Department, College, or teaching hospital committees as called upon.
- MD/DO who has completed a residency in neurology.
- Fellowship in epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology.
- Board Certified or achieve certification within 3 years of recruitment.
- Meet all institutional requirements for appointment to Assistant Professor.
