The Intervention Specialist will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents to support students in grades 4-8 with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have the resources to thrive academically and personally in a challenging and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Provide direct instructional support to students in grades 4 through 8 who require additional academic assistance.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring accommodations are met and modifications are properly implemented.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and create effective learning environments for all students.
- Collaborate with school psychologist, school counselor, and division heads to organize student support meetings and monitor the progress of students receiving services.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting interventions and strategies as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and interventions.
- Actively engage in professional development to enhance personal and professional growth, particularly in the areas of learning differences and educational equity.
- Participate in the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Attend Student Support Department meetings to collaborate and ensure consistency of support measures across all divisions.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing as an active member of a collaborative team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and evidence-based interventions.
- Ability to design and implement individualized academic support plans.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of learning differences, special education laws, and IEP plan requirements.
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting teaching methods and strategies.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
- Ohio Teaching License or Certification in Special Education (grades 4‑8).
Desired:
- Master’s degree.
- Special Education Early Intervention Specialist license.
- Orton‑Gillingham certification or Reading Specialist endorsement.
- Math endorsement.
- Experience with 4th‑8th grade students and special education support.
- Three years of experience serving students with learning differences, designing accommodations, training faculty, interpreting psycho‑educational testing.
- Three years of teaching or comparable experience in education.
- Must be willing and able to secure an Ohio Permanent Non‑Tax certificate or Professional Teaching license.
- The school will support you in obtaining this once hired, but it must be secured within the first six months of employment for compliance purposes.
