Position Title:
Applicant Pool for Adjunct Faculty, Medical Assisting
Job Description:
The Adjunct Instructor for Medical Assisting is responsible for classroom instruction. The instructor will plan, direct, and evaluate student learning and participate in the evaluation of student learning outcomes and program outcomes. Additionally the instructor must be able to identify individual student learning styles and develop strategies appropriate to the adult learner using educational theory and evidence-based practice. The instructor must meet and maintain accrediting agency requirements ( CAAHEP ) and follow Medical Assisting Program policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of current Medical Assisting practices. Practice is grounded in educational and Medical Assisting theory.
Leads by example: demonstrates critical thinking and reasoning. Encourages growth of future Medical Assistants through consistent evaluation and constructive feedback, nurturing and student advocacy.
Communicates in a timely , professional manner with students, staff and College personnel. Considers needs and safety in relation to student learning experiences.
Essential Functions:
Functions as a role model for Medical Assistants by demonstrating a calm, professional demeanor, ethical behavior, personal accountability, a strong work ethic, and collaboration as part of the health care team.
Plans, directs, instructs, and evaluates student learning and program outcomes in the classroom.
Identifies individual learning styles and develops strategies appropriate to the adult learner, using educational theory and evidence-based practice.
Evaluates students’ progress, communicating effectively and constructively with the student regarding the student’s performance.
Communicates with the Medical Assisting Program Coordinator or Chair questionable or substandard student performance.
Follows Medical Assisting Program policies and procedures.
Other Characteristics:
Collaborates as part of the interdisciplinary health care team. Is punctual and professional. Serves as a role model at all times in the presence of students. Demonstrates personal attributes that facilitate learning ( e.g. caring, confidence, compassion, flexibility and integrity). Collaborates with faculty to provide optimal conditions for student success. Models ethical behavior.
Minimum Education /
Experience:
Associate degree or two-year technical certificate.
Must have experience working in a physician’s office or other allied health care facility for a minimum of one (1) year.
Meets and maintains active certification.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, AAMA)
and/or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA, AMT)
