High School Science Teacher

• Valid Ohio Teaching License in assigned subject area
• Experience with at-risk youth preferred
• Evidence of organizational capabilities
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
• Capability of lifting up to fifty pounds
• Pass a BCI and/or FBI records check

Under the supervision of the Director, the teacher will be responsible for providing daily instruction in their assigned subject area to students assigned to their classes. This instruction will meet the Ohio State Standards for the subject area(s) taught. The teacher will be responsible for individualizing educational programs and instruction to ensure passage of the Ohio State Tests (EOC's), or any other testing standard set forth by the State of Ohio.

The teacher will work as part of an educational team to create a supportive environment for students, staff, and parents in order to maintain discipline, classroom management, and support the goals and mission of Glass City Academy.

• Provide quality instruction in assigned subject area(s) to assigned students.
• Keep and maintain accurate student records/grades both hard-copy and electronically.
• Maintain classroom management and properly supervise assigned students.
• Meet the educational and emotional needs of highly at-risk students.
• Maintain contact with minor students’ parents/guardians on a regular basis.
• Provide instruction designed to enhance the students’ ability to successfully pass the Ohio State Test (EOC) in the teacher’s assigned area.
• Create lesson plans for instruction following Ohio State Standards, or National Standards if no state standard, for subject(s) being taught.
• Communicate, and work, with the Director on student educational issues.
• Communicate, and work, with the Assistant Director on student discipline issues.
• Communicate, and work, with the School Counselor on student emotional issues.
• Communicate, and work, with other staff members to meet student needs.
• Participate in the Glass City Academy Commencement Ceremony, Open House, Teacher/Parent Conferences and any other events as scheduled by the Director.
• Comply with all health and safety standards as set by state and federal regulations, and by our sponsor.
• Maintain a valid State of Ohio Teaching License in assigned subject area(s).
• Perform other duties as required by the Director.
