Applicant Pool, Truck Driving (Non-Credit, Short-term Training)
Applicants must have held a valid, infraction‑free CDLA for at least the last three years. Criminal record must be completely clean. (FBIandBCI background checks are performed prior to employment.) Candidates should have supervisory backgrounds or instructional experience; lack of such does not necessarily negate consideration.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Solid knowledge of local, state and federal rules/regulations concerning CDLA vehicle operation within Ohio.
- Experience with tractor‑trailers (both manual and automatic); must be able to drive and control both types.
- Ability to share safe practices and instruct students in safe operation of CDLA vehicles.
- Ability to lead 4‑8 students in classroom and skills pad maneuvers.
- Strength and flexibility to climb in/out of cab and manipulate trailer components.
- Clear speaking and presentation skills, able to explain points and answer questions.
- Moderate computer skills for Microsoft Office use.
- Mechanical knowledge valued but not required.
Candidate will instruct students in safe operation of both manual and automatic CDLA tractor‑trailer combinations.
Other CharacteristicsCandidate must be professional, representing the college, present well in front of an audience, maintain attire and grooming standards, engage students without judgment, and maintain a positive attitude.
Minimum Education and Experience- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum three years of CDLA experience.
- Truck‑driving background (specifically CDLA‑based) sought.
- Experience and training as an instructor is a bonus.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) A required.
